Which kind PC can be considered as Good PC
Assume you are going to build your own PC, or buy a laptop as your main workstation. Here are some considerations which will greatly impact the usages.
You need power
Use a desktop CPU as you can. Try your best to avoid any low voltage CPU, say, intel i7-xxxxU. it is called i7, but the performance of a low voltage I7 CPU is worse than a i3 Desktop CPU.
5 years ago, my company assigned me a top range laptop, with a i7 CPU, 16g RAM, 512 G hard drive. the laptop drove me to nuts. the CPU is so under performance that I have to return it for service 2 times, and they can’t fix it. At the same time, I have a 10 years ago intel i7 860s in my home desktop, which is a 4 core 8 threads CPU, I upgrade the RAM to 16g, and give it a GT9800 graphic card. the usage experience blow the laptop away 10 miles, I can even play Mass Effect 3 when I was in good mood.
If you need a laptop, try buy a laptop that comes with a Intel i7-xxxxH cpu. TPD at 45w. Usually 15 inch laptop or gaming laptop comes installed H CPU.
You need peace
Fan noise is annoying. Powerful CPU gives you power and will also dissipates lots of heat. if you use a laptop, during the summer time, the keyboard will toast your fingers.
To make your work environment quiet and peaceful,
- Avoid i9 CPU for laptop. i9 cpu will only make your finger burning while won’t improve performance too much.
