Microsoft nowadays is kind more focus on productivity rather than platform, Microsoft want ALL platforms instead of one. like Office for mac and Ipad. I tend believe MS will allow the ARM version to be installed in M1 machines in the near future.

Several days ago, I completely reinstalled OS of my new Air M1. it is fairly similar to Linux installation process.
